Thailand
Playing backdrop to some of the most dream evoking films to ever hit Hollywood, Thailand is notorious for its idealistic beaches. Highlights include Koh Samui.  Centred by uninhabitable jungle and edged by blanket white sand, it is the island escape you always knew you needed. Then there’s Phuket, with clear ocean waters swimming with sea turtles and coastlines dripping with coconut cocktails; it’s the perfect blend of everything your beach holiday deserves. The unimaginable limestone scenery and unexplored caves of the Kra Isthmus are yours to be explored, with a vitamin D soaked massage waiting to top off every day.
Hawaii
Hawaii - the hibiscus capital of the world, notorious for bare feet, barrels and year round balmy days. The unmatched beach culture of Hawaii swims through hundreds of volcanic islands that stretch for almost 2,500km in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. From the hub of Honolulu to the magical islands of Kauai and Maui, Hawaii spells beach time like nowhere else. The Banzai Pipeline, Ohau, has been home to countless World Championship surfing events, providing surfers with days of entertainment, Honolulu provides holidaymakers with the prefect blend of city meets the sand while The Big Island offers nature at its best.
Bali
There’s a plethora of reasons why tourists flock to Indonesia, and high on that list is beach time. Lounging on the sand with massages and shopping right by your side is for many, the ultimate holiday experience. Pay next to nothing for your own private sun bed by the sea in Seminyak, enjoying hours of relaxation intersected by dips in the ocean. Further along the coastline, enjoy the energetic pace of Kuta beach culture or find a private oasis in Nusa Dua. If you prefer to marvel at the ocean from afar, head to the world renowned Ayana Rock Bar in Jimbaran Bay, for a sunset cocktail on above the crashing waves of the Indian Ocean.
Vietnam
Vietnam is commonly associated with rice fields, floating markets and bustling cities. Surprisingly unspoken is the country’s pristine, palm fringed beaches with crystal clear waters. Arguably the best spot for beaching in Vietnam is the bay of Nha Trang and its surroundings, half an hour’s flight from Ho Chi Minh City. Beach days are best spent scubadiving or lazing under a thatched umbrella. More beauty can be found 50 kilometres north of Nha Trang at Doc Let beach, where the tone is more peaceful and beachgoers can easily find a pocket of seclusion in the sunshine. Sip coconuts, swim for hours and enjoy the true tropical paradise that is Vietnam.
Fiji
Fiji is one of those rare as a diamond islands where the ocean floor looks more like a pool; the perfect shade of aqua blue, uninterrupted and begging you to submerge. Known as the 'soft coral capital of the world', it’s the perfect place for exploring the colourful ocean floor with a snorkel or a scuba dive. When the exploration’s over, nestle under a thatched rood on a beach in Nadi, watching the sky turn pink as the sun sets in front of you. On the mainland of Viti Levu, experience the serene beauty of rivers and waterfalls at the centre of the island. On the island of Denarau, take day trips on the water to Mondriki, the set of the epic island film, Castaway.
Cook Islands
It’s painful searching the Internet for Cook Islands images, unless of course you are actually going there. There are endless photos or clear blue seas and palm fringed beached, far exceeding anything in your imagination; the best part being it’s even better in reality!  Rarotonga is a reef-protected island offering swimmers perfectly still water and sublime scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities. Aitutaki is the perfect place to jump in a kayak and unearth private havens of white sand.
Malaysia
With neighbours like Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam, Malaysia has a fare bit to compete with when it comes to magnificent beaches. But this pocket of Asia is a hidden utopia, slowly creeping onto the radar of travellers and being discovered as more than just a stop over to other destinations. Visit Batu Ferringhi beach in Penang for parasailing and watersports, Tanjung Rhu beach in Langkawi for a serene mountain backdrop and views of surrounding islands or Kota Kinabalu for a city by the sea.
Tanzania
The glorious beaches on the island of Zanzibar are quite possibly the most alluring aspect of Tanzania. Which is an audacious comment given they compete with the likes of Mt Kilimanjaro and the Ngorongoro Crater wildlife playground. But the Zanzibar Archipelago has seas so bright they match the vibrant clothes of the local women, and sand so soft it could put a silk cloth to shame. The islands north is where you will find Nungwi Beach, commonly noted as the best beach in Africa. But any little patch of this paradise island will do; with a sunlounge and your swimmers, you really can’t go wrong.
Greece
Beachgoers from all around the globe have been making a beeline to Greece since the holiday concept was first born. With the distinctly picturesque architectural backdrop of both Mykonos and Santorini, there’s more than just the pretty ocean drawing in the crowds. Spend days sailing from one Greek Isle to the next, lapping up the laid back Mediterranean vibe and endless hours of sunshine intersected by freshly caught seafood and Metaxa cocktails. Finish your day with a cliff jump into a deep azure pool that will make your heat skip a beat.
Vanuatu
Finally, an island paradise unspoiled by the masses, where food gets served up in coconut shells and coral reefs can still be explored in solitude. Vanuatu takes the beach holiday concept to the next level. Lounge on Espiritu Santo’s dreamy Champagne Beach; take a dive or snorkel on the eerie shipwreck of SS President Coolidge, named by The Times as one of the top 10 wreck diving sites in the world; or simply take some time to sail the seas around Port Vila. From lazy days to active plays, Vanuatu is beach time at its best.
Tahiti
Located in the South Pacific, the islands of Tahiti are some of the most idyllic in the world. Dive into the clear aqua waters of this tropical paradise and explore untouched coral reefs and picture perfect white sand beaches. From the luxurious overwater bungalows in Bora Bora to the rugged mountain peaks of Moorea, Tahiti offers something for everyone. Polynesian culture gives the islands their rich traditions and delicious cuisine, making it the ideal destination for those wanting to uncover more about the South Pacific. Tahiti is also one of the most romantic destinations on the planet, with travellers choosing the islands for their engagements, weddings and honeymoons.
