- In Hanoi you should pay a visit to the History Museum which has important historical artifacts dating back as far as the 1st century.
- Phu Quoc Island, the largest island in Vietnam, is actually an archipelago of 22 separate islands. It is part of the Kien Giang Province and is also known as Emerald Island because of its natural treasures.
- The Cu Chi Tunnels, located in Ho Chi Minh City, were used by the Viet Cong as hideouts, storage and much more during the Vietnam War. During the Tet Offensive of 1968, the tunnels were the operations base.
- In Dalat, you can visit local tribal villages such as the Lat Village and the Chicken Village (with a huge statue of a chicken)
- Haiphong, the third largest city in Vietnam, is known as "the city of flower lined streets".
- In Quang Ninh, there is Halong Bay, where you can kayak and see limestone formations, cliffs, grottoes and small islets.
- The Mekong Delta is the place to go for boat tours. You will go through rice paddies, swamps, forests and more. This is probably one of the favourite things to do in Vietnam.
- Six kilometers from Chau Doc is Sam Mountain. Climb to the top or take a vehicle to see breathtaking temples and pagodas.
- In the 16th to 18th centuries Hoi An was a thriving international commercial port. Traders mostly came for the silk and the ceramics. The silk is still produced here today and this is the place if you interested in shopping for silk.
- The National Preserve of Cuc Phuong is 61,000 acres, and is Vietnam's first and largest national park.
